The Analyst Programmer position at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) is a full-time, permanent role within the ICS Department’s Applications Development and Support unit, based at the Main Campus in Bellville, Western Cape. This opportunity supports UWC’s Digital Transformation Strategy and involves contributing to the development, maintenance, and support of robust applications and solutions that align with the university’s strategic goals. The successful candidate will work closely with the Business Systems Unit Team Lead, participating in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and ensuring that all solutions meet best practice standards. The role also includes estimating development efforts, responding to incidents, and maintaining high service levels across the campus community.

Responsibilities

• Participate in SDLC phases with a focus on development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Develop, maintain, and support applications and solutions based on business requirements
• Ensure solutions and enhancements comply with guidelines and best practices
• Estimate development and implementation efforts and prepare Work Breakdown Structures
• Provide first-line incident response, resolution, or escalation

Qualifications

• Senior Certificate (NQF 4)
• Relevant certifications
• Minimum of 2 years as a software developer using Microsoft technologies, specifically Net
• Demonstrable experience in a structured software development environment
• Relevant NQF 6 qualification
• Experience in iOS and Android mobile app development
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Power BI reporting experience
• Skills in data modelling and cataloguing
• Experience with Angular, Net Core, and Net 6 technology stack
• Exposure to cloud technologies
